PowerSpec G758 – Screen Goes Black During Gaming (GPU Loses Signal, PC Stays On)
System: PowerSpec G758 (stock configuration)
Issue: Screen goes dark while gaming, but the PC continues running (fans stay on, no restart).
Detailed Description of the Problem
When playing games, my monitor suddenly loses signal — the screen goes completely black — but the PC itself stays powered on. I can still hear the fans, and the system does not crash or reboot. I have to force-restart to recover display output.
The blackout happens only under gaming or GPU load. The system works normally on the desktop or during light tasks.
Important Detail
I accidentally pressed the BIOS / Flash BIOS button on the back of the PC. I’m not sure if that affected my BIOS settings or caused a partial reset. The issue started happening around that time.
What I Have Verified So Far
- PC does not shut off — only the display signal is lost
- Happens in games only
- No overclocking
- GPU fans spin normally
- No error messages on reboot
- Happens with DisplayPort
- Temperatures (when checked before blackout) appear normal
- No USB flash drive inserted during accidental BIOS button press
I purchased this PC on November 19th, was wondering if this a software bug or if I need to return it during my return window.
Thank you

1. Reset BIOS to default
I entered BIOS and restored optimized defaults. No overclocking of any kind.2. Clean driver reinstall using DDU in Safe Mode
- Used DDU to remove NVIDIA drivers
- Installed the latest driver
- Also rolled back to NVIDIA 577 to test an older stable driver
→ Issue persists on all drivers
3. Stress testing the GPU with FurMark
FurMark runs but the system blacks out at 92% load every single time.
The PC stays on — only the GPU output dies. This only happens under heavy GPU load. Desktop/light tasks are fine.
4. Accidentally pressed BIOS/Flash button on the back of the PC
I pressed the BIOS button on the rear I/O by mistake before this started happening. I’m not sure if that affected GPU initialization settings or stability, but BIOS has already been reset since then. -
After performing several tests and the issue progressively gotten worse, it turned out on my 10 day old computer, the power supply failed. This was very disappointing that I live 6 hour round trip from the closet microcenter. I ultimately purchased a new power supply and installed it. All test have passed since, and the issue was resolved.
