Here are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions we get about Microsoft Office 365 at Micro Center:
Q: How do I install Microsoft Office 365?
A: You will need a valid Office 365 license key and a Microsoft Account to start downloading Office. Go to office.com/setup and sign in using a Microsoft account. Put in the office product key. Once downloaded the setup process should begin automatically. Please see our article How to install Office for more details.
Q: Do I need a Microsoft Account to install Microsoft Office 365?
A: Yes. Microsoft Accounts are free and can be assigned to any existing email address, or you can sign up for a new email address from Microsoft if you need one.
Q: What if my license key isn’t accepted on the Microsoft Office setup website?
A: First, make sure the code is entered correctly. To help with this, take a damp cloth to wipe any remaining silver foil from the code. Then carefully enter each letter or number. The hyphens should be entered for you automatically.
Q: What if Word or Excel say that my subscription is about to end after I installed Microsoft Office 365?
A: Sometimes new computers come with a trial version of some Office applications. To make sure your subscription is linked to any existing installed applications, sign in with your Microsoft Account. If needed, try to uninstall the trial version so the computer only has the version you installed. See our article How do I sign-in to Word or Excel with my Microsoft Account for more details.
Q: I’ve already activated my license but never installed Microsoft Office. How do I install it now?
A: First login with your Microsoft Account at office.com/myaccount in any web browser. Then click on My Subscriptions near the top right and then the Install link next to Office 365.
Q. When I buy a new computer, will it come with Microsoft Office?
A. Most new computers come pre-installed with Microsoft Windows Operating System, but not the Office suite of applications (e.g. Word, Excel). Some may come with a 30 day free trial but Microsoft Office will need to be purchased afterwards.
Q. What applications are included with Office 365?
A. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Microsoft OneDrive, which is Microsoft’s cloud service. On Windows, Office 365 also includes Publisher and Access.
Q. Do I have to renew Office 365 every year?
A. Yes, Office 365 is a subscription-based payment model. This allows you to receive updates as they are released and can be scheduled to be paid online monthly or yearly or purchased in store.
Q. How many computers can I install Office 365 on?
A. You can share Office 365 Home with up to 5 additional people. Each user can install Office on their Windows or Mac computer, and their Android or iOS phones and tablets. Office 365 personal is only available for one computer.
