Apple Watch Replacement plan

Hi,
I wanted to purchase an Apple Watch and a MicroCenter replacement plan(not AppleCare). However, the store associate said this was not possible. He didn’t seem to sure of himself. Can someone clarify why this would be the only Apple product that doesn’t have a replacement plan? Associate said “it wouldn’t attach”. Thanks!

This is correct, Apple Watches do not have our normal replacement plans available for them, you have to purchase Apple Care. As for the why, essentially it boils down to that they function like cellphones, which we also do not sell replacement plans for. I don't know all the exact reasoning behind that, but that's how these devices are treated.
Apple Care can be added within 60 days after a purchase, if you'd still like to go that route. -
I added this 2yr replacement plan to my Apple Watch 8 without adding AppleCare:
