Does processor speed matter when scanning slides or negatives?

Hi,
I've got a laptop that's a few years old but pretty fast overall but when scanning on my Epson V600 it's a dinosaur. Don't want to buy the latest, greatest new computer if that won't improve my scan speed.
So other than dropping DPI to 100 will a faster processor help? I would appreciate any help.

Hello @Festeris and thanks for posting on the Microcenter Community Forum. Was the V600 scanning faster on another computer? What kind of computer do you have and have you updated the V600 Epson firmware?
