smart TV versus computer?

My 7 year old Samsung SmartTV seems to be having problems. Does MicroCenter do repairs on these? If not, would it make sense to just buy a laptop and connect it to a big monitor?

Greetings. We do not repair TV's here at Micro Center. What were you looking to do with the laptop? You can hook a laptop to an external monitor/TV with the right cabling, that wouldn't be an issue.
