My powerspec G719 got black screen while gaming

Hi,

I've got a Powerspec G719

Specs:

  • AMD Ryzen 7 9700X (3.8GHz) Processor
  • ASRock B650M-C Motherboard
  • 32GB DDR5-6000 RAM (2x16)
  • AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT Graphics Card

Just bought it a month ago.

Everything worked just fine while I was playing light load games like CS2 or Valorant. But when it came to heavier load games, I got black screen and the fans ran like 100% speed. The audio was still working but the screen was black. It crashed after 10-15 minutes.

My BIOS and drivers are up-to-date. I tried to use DDU to have a clean installation but it didn't work.

Any solutions?

Hi, I ended up sending my PC to Microcenter for warranty, they replaced another card so I think u should send it for warranty too. Which brand is ur card, mine was ASRock OC Edition.

I was also experiencing the black screen crash while under heavy load. I do think it's an over temp safety trip.

I turned on GPU tuning in AMD Adrenaline and set the max frequency to 90% and my stability issues went away. I was also seeing much more consistent FPS performance from my machine at the 90% frequency cap.

I ended up lowering the operating voltage to 93% (1070mV) and testing at 100% frequency and this was also stable, although with a little higher temperatures than at the 90% frequency limit.

I'm currently running at a 93% voltage setting and 97% Frequency (2500 MHz).  It seems very stable at this setting and I don't really see a noticeable performance issue.

I have not tried turning up the fans for more airflow --- which I suspect may also help at the stock settings -- however I'd prefer a bit quieter operation.

My guess is that the default cooling for this machine isn't sufficient at 100% voltage. I'll likely just keep the machine as-is with these settings as it's stable and still has pretty solid performance.
