PowerSpec B945 Desktop Computer - Adding 3.5" drives

I have found the two bays for the 3.5" HDD as well as the 2.5" SSD but the cabling is all bunched up and in bundled via a tie strap next to the PS. I'm a bit leery to just pull on the cables and thought maybe it would be best to disconnect the PS from the chaises and get the cables needed for the drives. I'll also need to add the new video card so those cables as well. Is this the appropriate approach in getting the needed cables to connect the new drives and video card? Or is there a simpler way?

They're bundled and pushed in. You should just be able to pull the bundle out.

  • Thanks Mike. On another note, is there a setting for email notification of posts?

  • Sorry to be a pain and maybe I've forgotten something but I needed to unmount the PS so I could get to the PS cables and see everything but the power cables for the drives. Is there a manual on the MB? Maybe it no longer matters, maybe it didn't before but I'm installing the drives and the SATA ports. Any one port better than the others?

  • Hopefully no time or brain power was wasted, the power cables are there and the SATA cable did not come with the WD 10 TB drive I bought although I do have some from previous builds so no issue. Looking for the full MB reference material but is there a prefered order of which SATA slots are used? If I knew it, it is long gone. I have 6 slots, SATA 1, 2, A1, A2, A3, and A4. Is there any advantage one over the other. I will look for the MB manual to print if possible for future reference as well as the new video card, AMD Radeon EX7600 Challenger.

    Manual: https://download-2.msi.com/archive/mnu_exe/mb/PROB650-PWIFI.pdf

SATA cables should be included in your accessory kit with the system. Prefer SATA 1-2, it's native to the chipset. The rest are on an ASMedia controller.
