PowerSpec G728 won’t let me play steam games without pop ups
Over the holiday break, I decided to buy a prebuilt desktop PC from Micro Center because my gaming laptop was starting to feel outdated. It overheated often, slowed down during games, and could not keep up with newer titles. I was excited to finally upgrade to a stronger system that could handle gaming without constant performance problems.
That feeling disappeared the moment I launched my first game. While sitting in the main menu, several Windows applications began opening by themselves. Word, Excel, OneNote, and even accessibility tools like Narrator and Magnifier started popping up one after another. At the same time, my keyboard stopped responding, leaving me unable to close the windows or exit the game. It felt as if the computer had taken control away from me.
I assumed I had pressed a shortcut or accidentally changed a setting, but the issue happened again every time I tried to play. I restarted the PC, removed recently installed programs, and even created a brand-new Microsoft account, but nothing fixed the problem. Strangely, the pop-ups only occurred while gaming.

Do you have any controllers connected besides the keyboard and mouse?

Hey @PowerSpec_MikeW ,
I don’t have any controllers connected but I do have the keyboard and mouse connected to a USB hub. This is now happening on 2 G728 PCs, I originally brought the first PC into my local Micro Center to have it examined, but it was exchanged without them wanting to reproduce the issue and now unfortunately the same behavior continued on the replacement unit.
i have a video of the issue occurring when I start the game within steam. -
@PowerSpec_MikeW please let me know where I can share the video or the link to the Reddit post of the video that I posted on the Micro Center subreddit page for help.

I'll look for the post on reddit. Can you remove the USB hub from the loop and test without it?
-
@PowerSpec_MikeW , I’ve connected the keyboard and mouse directly to the USB ports on the computer and the issue still persist with the pop ups (excel, one note, one drive, word doc) as soon as the game is initialized or I am loading into the game.
