We currently have the super-powerful high-end AMD Ryzen 7 5800X CPU on sale for the tiny price of $329.99 - $309.99 when bundled with a motherboard! - and that got us thinking. What if we designed a high-power gaming PC and put it in the smallest form factor we could? Well, lo and behold, our Micro-Priced MicroATX AMD 5800X build!
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X Vermeer 3.8GHz 8-Core AM4
The reason for the (sale) season is the Ryzen 7 5800X. Eight cores, 16 threads, a base speed of 3.8GHz (with boosts up to 4.7GHz). All made on 7NM architecture. This processor is an absolute powerhouse, and is sure to keep your new tiny or not-so-tiny rig ready to rumble with new releases for years to come.
Motherboard: ASRock B550M Steel Legend AMD AM4 microATX
A tiny build requires a tiny motherboard, but it doesn't require that we sacrifice style. The ASRock B550M is an absolutely stunning black-and-white motherboard with accent lights to really flaunt its stuff. It also comes with 2 PCIe 4.0 slots, NVMe support, 7.1 audio support, and an absolute plethora of USB ports so you never run out of room for accessories.
Graphics Card: ASUS NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Dual LHR Overclocked Dual-Fan 8GB GDDR6 PCIe 4.0
The dual-fan NVIDIA RTX 3070 is a perfect fit for our AMD Ryzen 7 5800X build. Small enough that it won't overfill the case, but powerful enough that it'll keep up with modern AAA releases for a while to come, the RTX 3070 crushes in the "tiny powerhouse" category.
Processor Cooling: AMD WRAITH PRISM RGB CPU Cooler
The AMD WRAITH PRISM cooler is small enough that it won't take up all your resources but vibrant enough that you won't miss it either. With RGB capabilities, you can really highlight your build.
RAM: Ballistix Gaming RGB 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 PC4-25600 CL16 Dual Channel
16GB of DDR4-3200 RAM, with room to grow and add more, is more than ready to handle pretty much anything you can throw at it. Plus, you can truly make it your own with RGB customization options.
Hard Drive: Samsung 980 SSD 1TB M.2 NVMe Interface PCIe 3.0 x4
When you're building a small PC, space is a premium. Rather than go with a big SSD or HDD, an M.2 NVMe drive will slot directly into your motherboard. No extra wires or additional components to jury-rig into the case!
Power Supply: G.Skill 750 Watt 80 Plus Gold ATX Fully Modular Power Supply
750 watts of power with an 80 Plus Gold rating means your new powerhouse will run smoothly and efficiently. But, perhaps more importantly, it's fully modular, meaning you won't have a bunch of extraneous cables getting in the way of all that beautiful white highlighting.
Case: Lian Li LANCOOL 205M Mid-Tower Chassis microATX Computer Case
When you're building a small build, you have to keep the case small too. The Lian Li LANCOOL 205M keeps it tiny and stylish with its sleek black shell and tempered glass window, so you can show off all that RGB and power.
