PowerSpec 1530 ESET Activation problem
Hi, I purchased my PowerSpec 1530 from Micro Center in October 2020, and have never been able to activate ESET internet security software. Whenever I click on any option on the pop window that asks me to activate it, it just freezes up and the only thing I can do is force close it in task manager.
This happens everything my laptop reboots.
I know it's 1.5 years later, but I was going to try redownload and activate the software, but whenever I put in my laptop serial number, it shows that the serial number is not in the database,
Is it too late to activate? I'm fine if it is, I just can't find out how to uninstall it. It's not showing up in the apps to uninstall.

Greetings. I'm not aware of any limit to activate but would not be surprised if the keys expired after a year after purchase. You can download a 30-day trial from https://www.eset.com/us/home/free-trial/
As for the pop-up on startup, you should be able prevent that from starting up from System Configuration.
Press the Windows key on your keyboard, or the Windows logo for the Start menu at the bottom left. Start typing and search for msconfig and from the search results, click on System Configuration.
On the window that opens, go to Services and look for "ESET Activation Helper" or "Activation Helper" and uncheck it. Hit apply and restart the PC if necessary.

Hi, I checked the services tab in the MSCONFIG window, there's nothing there that has the word ESET or Activation Helper.

I sorted the service name before taking the screenshot.

I see, it might be installed as a program then. Press the Windows key and + R on your keyboard and type: appwiz.cpl
From there, double click on the ESET Noderator activation helper and follow the prompts.
If you still don't see it here, Please run this tool: https://download.sysinternals.com/files/Autoruns.zip Use autoruns64.exe from the downloaded file. Run it and look for 'ESETMC", uncheck it and save any changes and then reboot the PC.

Hi, it isn't in the apps list, that's why I wasn't able to uninstall lit. I double checked using the info you provided above and it wasn't listed in that list of apps. I downloaded and ran the autoruns64 file and found it, but it's giving me an error when I try to click on it.

these are the 2 files in that folder. I tried to run the program, but it just froze up after it loaded the install window.

I finally found the place to disable it on the msconfig / task manager start up and disabled it. Let's hope that does it. :)
thanks for your help.

That should do it. Sorry for the confusion on the exact location as we have used a few different versions of this program/service on our PowerSpec computers.
