BYO Month – Create a build with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050… and win one!

Went with the latest generation CPU/Motherboard/RAM combo, as I would expect this PC to last me several years, and figured having the latest technology would allow me to upgrade as I went along without having to worry about backward compatibility for a while. The 32 GB RAM is sufficient for my current needs, but two sticks leaves room for expansion. The 850W power supply allows for decent amount of draw, without being over the top. The two WD SN850s are for a RAID configuration, while having the Samsung 980 allows for additional storage, while allowing for a little protection against MTBF from the drives by having separate manufacturers. The rest...well, I wanted a bit of RGB, and I like water-cooling.

This is my first pc build for reasonable price
-
It's a far cry from my first PC build: a 386 Tower with 16MB RAM, 79MB Hard drive, 1MB VRAM, 1x CD Drive.
-
Funnily enough, I was making this build list this morning before I even heard about the contest! I was helping my friend design a build for himself so he can finally upgrade his laptop with an old i3 and integrated graphics.
Notably, we're using a Ryzen 5 5600X. Using the $50 off a CPU purchase coupon, we can bring the cost down to merely $180 for an incredible CPU and an okay cooler. Then, we can bundle in an ASUS B550M Wifi for just $100 or so. Add on 16GB of fast DDR4 RAM for $65, a capable 650W bronze power supply for $60, and the incredible Lancool 215 featuring awesome airflow and aesthetics for just $100. Finally, we can use the free SSD coupon to get a 240GB SSD from Micro Center and then the free GPU from this promotion. At a total price of $505, that would be an RTX PC with plenty of upgrade capability. Of course, adding on a couple more fans and more storage would be necessary, but I have both fans and an SSD I can add on. That would be an incredible present!

RGB just gives that extra 10 fps. This pc was built for the new gamer with a big budget and a person that loves his RGB. This pc is made for style, all your favorite steam downloads, and its performance. Good luck trying to get that with uncle Bobs computer.

You know what would be COOL!!
THiS

Lian Li all white build, all lighting would be orange and it shall be called Sherbet. (would also take casing off of the 3050 and paint white)
-
I'd just updated my old X99/i7-5820K/RX470 system with some parts from Micro Center; an NZXT H510 Flow in white, and an Inland Pro NVMe M.2 drive. I'm a fan of clean and moderate builds, so I built something comparable in a now mid-range set up on the new Intel 12th Gen. Holy cow, I was not prepared for RAM to be the second most expensive part of the whole build!

I have been trying to upgrade for a year and know I can go competitive and stream with friends!

One day I will finally have a ryzen powered ASUS computer, and this is what it could look like. I might have to get a case from somewhere else though, as although the build wizard asks you to buy an optical drive, microcenter doesn’t carry any mid/full tower cases with anywhere to put one!?! -
Gaming has always been secondary to me but wanted a powerful PC. With 5950X I have the best processor with 16 physical cores and 32 threads. This should be ample to run some VMs to host few low traffic websites.
B550 is fine. I don't want to spend extra for X570. Tried using as much as white parts to match the Asus motherboard. The case has 3 RGB fans so added AIO cooler with rgb fans and RGB RAM

Trying to see how low I can go to build a gaming PC with all new parts. If I can get an RTX 3050 for MRP (Or free), building with Intel is the way to go. Ironically Intel is the answer to budget builds now. There are no Ryzen processors for under $200 range now. Can you believe a $700 1080 P 60 fps gaming with Ray tracing and DLSS? Microcenter can make it happen. Check below.

$1000 is a good budget for a decent gaming PC that also handles typical desktop workload. Core i5 10400 is a great choice for a processor under $200. 11th gen core i5 is not bringing much performance gain over 10th get i5 so not bothering to spend another $20.
Evga power supplies provide great value so money. Starting with a good 500 GB nvme as boot drive. I will have freedom to choose another nmve or ssd or HDD if I end up using most of it. B560 motherboard is a no brainier for budget builds. Lancool 215 along with Cooler master ML 240 adds a bit of RGB touch.

Doing an open Bench case cause i never had one.

I love compact PCs so ITX is my go to form factor. Don't want it too powerful. I could have gone with an Intel processor but usually AMD motherboards are cheaper for ITX form factor. Right now there are no budget options but they should be in stock soon. For now added a X570 board for Gigabyte.
I loved Q58 case right when I saw reviews from various Tech tubers. I did visit Microcenter store once to check it out and fell in love. This build at ~1500 price point should be good for my content creation, video editing and occasional gaming.
-
This is my first build for gaming/streaming, just recently decided to break free from the limitations of buying prebuilds and the bigger limitation of buying Mac's. Still planning to add/upgrade the build later but this is what I got for my initial build.
-
it can run like a beast at 1080p, and it can even run VR smoothly. Basically can do anything you put you mind to, For as of now it’s amazing for a computer that’s $1614.92 + tax. https://www.microcenter.com/site/content/custom-pc-builder.aspx?load=7cb9da16-f28a-433d-8bb6-1964d8c2ec74

Building a PC for a friend, and he wants to keep his budget around $1000. This build doesn't break the bank and offers excellent performance with the 12400 and has decent storage with a 1 TB NVMe SSD. The RTX 3050 is an excellent card at around $250 - $350 (if you can find one around that price haha). RGB isn't a huge priority and there is plenty of potential upgrade paths with this build. Would be awesome to get hands-on with the Asus RTX 3050 Strix Model!
-
This is built for my girlfriend, who only plays some light games and watches movies. This is an elementary-level PC but enough for her to enjoy it.
-
Picked these because they are way better than what I have now. Maybe some day I can get a system like this!!!https://www.microcenter.com/site/content/custom-pc-builder.aspx?load=f8071067-b5cc-4499-a0fc-90e4328ab927

If I had the money to build a tiny pc this is what I would make.

Good luck everyone!

As a girl gamer I wish there were more girly color computer parts. If I had to make a build with a 3050 this is what I would choose to start with.

This is my build, I would love to win this GPU to build my first PC. I have almost all components except GPU, SSD, RAM, case and power supply.
-
Here is a fairly budget one that I made for ~$1000
Hope you enjoy!
-
My son built this PC for performance and to be able to game into the future with his friends.

Third attempt at commenting...
I just finished a similar build for myself (first upgrade since 2008 lol). A 3050 would make a nice upgrade for my brother tho. :)
