Would this build be sufficient for playing e-sports titles like: fortnite, apex, and valorant?
i am buying this pc for my son and would like to know if it would be sufficient for playing fortnite and apex and games like that...
The PC parts list is right here: https://www.microcenter.com/site/content/custom-pc-builder.aspx?load=7056ecbb-f8a5-40d9-a0af-b269826089bf
Please take a look at this for my sons birthday is in a week! thank you all for the help!

The budget is $1200

that looks reasonable, my only comments are why do you even want the 500gb 2.5 ssd? the 1tb m.2 should take a while to fill up. and is crazy fast compared to a 2.5 sata. also, the intel stock coolers are kind of sad. i would ditch the 2.5 drive and buy a nice cooler.
ps - you know about the gpu shortage? that 3050 graphics card may or may not be in stock in a week. if you see it in the store anytime between now and then, just buy it quick.
-
Yes, we do know about the GPU shortage, the guys at micro center told us to upgrade to a 2060, should i do that or just stick with the 3050?
-
Really depends on availability, but either card would work well.
-
in terms of game performance they are practically equal however the 3050 being newer technology has half the power usage at 80 watts compared to 160 for the 2060, so that would be my choice.

Okay, so one more thing, we went with the 2060 with an i5-10400 with NO network adapters because we knew ethernet would be faster. We decided to go get the parts and have him build it because we know how long hes been waiting. We now have a problem where when we plug in the ethernet cable nothing happens, we tried going into the network adapters, and nothing is there, we have tried uninstalling the drivers and restarting the pc multiple times, do you know what is going on?
-
There are usually little lights where the network cable plugs in and they blink when it is connected. also on the other end the router or hub should have a light showing that port is connected. that will tell you if the cable is hooked up ok.
otherwise, this kind of thing is best diagnosed by contacting the motherboard maker. asus, if you got what was on your list.
-
hey! Yeah thank you, we had to get the drivers for the motherboard.
One more thing. Our sons old pc was a piece of crap. We want him to have a PC at his moms house too. So we were wondering what we should upgrade first on the old PC. The micro centers custom pc builder did not have that old of parts so we built it on PCpartpicker.com (https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Bobby.k214/saved/#view=xmcTMp) This would help a bunch! Our son said we should upgrade the RAM first but i just wanted to ask someone that knew more about this kinda stuff. Thank you once again. oh also the stuff that is not on the list is right here:
REAL motherboard: dell 084J0R
HDD: WDC WD2002FYPS-02W3B0
Case: some old dell inspiron.
