Unable to reinstall Windows 10 on totally wiped drive
Purchased ASUS TUF Gaming A15 TUF506QE-MS74 15.6" Laptop Computer Platinum Collection
on 08/21/2022 and immediately wiped the hard drive and installed Ubuntu. Always problematic with communication between system and hardware. Things like I needed to buy wifi and bluetooth dongles to have those work and it doesn't play well with creating audio and video using OBS Studio not recognizing webcams audio recording goes wacky on multiple records. (I record audio on my Mac and edit on the ASUS laptop.) Any of the last three versions of Ubuntu (20-22) kinda suck with this computer.
So I've decided to see if Windows 10 (the original OS) will play well with my setup but I can't get it reinstalled.
The installer doesn't recognize any existing Windows system which may be a problem but it won't even recognize my freshly formatted HD to NFTS using the properly created USB installer from instructions at the ASUS website now says: "We couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one."
What should I do? Will Microcenter reinstall the OS under the year of warranty? Other options?
Thanks.

Most likely an issue with the storage controller mode. Check the SATA controller mode in the BIOS, if it's RAID, change it to AHCI unless you actually need RAID. If you need RAID, then you'll need to add a RAID driver to the flash drive and walk it to the driver to detect your drive.

Thanks TSMikeW.
It was nice to try something! Unfortunately the SATA controller mode in the BIOS already indicates it is AHCI.
I tried running the installer again anyway with the same results.

Alright. Back into the installer. Press Shift + F10 for command prompt on that screen. Type: diskpart
Type: list disk
Take a picture of what you're seeing.

Here's the screen I pressed Shift + F10 from:
Have no idea where I can find Setup log files if you want me to locate that.

If you're trying to do a clean install, you need to delete the existing partitions, then hit "Next" and it'll create the partition layout automatically.
If you're not trying to save data on the drives and you want a clean install, delete both partitions one and two, then proceed. Backup your data first if you have any.

Looks like this is working. At least it has gotten me past THAT screen.
I appreciate your help in this so very much!!!
Thank you! 🕺
