Looking for a place on MC's site to file a complaint, and not finding it. I want this to be documented rather than discussed over the phone.
I brought my MacBook Pro 2013 for diagnostics, was told by the technician at the desk that it does not boot, battery does not respond, so it would need a logic board, which would cost $700 up, and there is not much I can do, except doing data backup . I was quoted $99- up (depending on the amount of data), and since it was not more than 40GB, I agreed.
In it went that same day, July 22,2022, service number 2207220615. That Mac was for my job, and I was told it would take "few days", so I eagerly waited! I saw "technician assigned" in 10 days, and I filled out online form to contact the technician, no reply. I called three times, the last time I spoke to the service department was on 08.07.2022 they promised to call me within the next few days. By then I have recovered most of the files I needed for work otherwise
The next thing I know is a LETTER in mail with the FINAL NOTICE from the service department (dated 08.18.2022) notifying me that the backup had been completed, and that if I do not come to pickup my Mac in a week, it will be "SAFELY RECYCLED"?!?!?
I came and picked it up FORTUNATELY, BECAUSE IT BOOTS INTO RECOVERY MODE!!!
What did I pay $164 for (few books in PDF format, and 3GB of pics), when the unit could be restored for less ?!?!?
