Need Help with PC Build Recommendations

Hi All - I have traditionally been a console gamer, but looking to make the jump over to PC. I play mostly FPS games like Call of Duty, Fortnite, Apex, etc., but play sports games & RPGs as well. My PC would be mostly for gaming with some need for light video editing as well.

Right now, I have an Elgato external capture card which I assume will be compatible with any build. I also have an ASUS gaming monitor (VG28UQL1A) that I will be using as the primary monitor with another monitor (ASUS not sure what model) for secondary monitor.

I've done some preliminary research on different Intel vs. AMD builds, but was curious if someone had a solid build for around $2500-$3000 that would be a healthy improvement over my Xbox Series X.

How does the capture card need to connect? USB?

Do you have a lot of space on your desk for a big case or is smaller better?

The capture card connects through USB. I have a PC right now, but it's an old Dell XPS desktop - not really ideal for gaming :)

I have plenty of space on my desk for a larger case. The Dell XPS desktop is on my desk currently.
