Hi,

This is my first time building my own PC from scratch. My purpose is to use it for video editing and maybe gaming. I'm planning to use it with 49" Samsung Odyssey G9 curve monitor. Please let me know if I'm missing anything, any recommendation with a better selection would help. Here is my component list:

  • Core i7-12700K Alder Lake 3.6GHz Twelve-Core LGA 1700 Boxed Processor - Heatsink Not Included
  • Z690-F ROG Strix Gaming WiFi DDR5 Intel LGA 1700 ATX Motherboard
  • T-FORCE DELTA RGB 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR5-5600 PC5-44800 CL32 Dual Channel Desktop Memory Kit FF4D532G5600HC3 - White
  • 5000D Airflow Tempered Glass Mid-Tower ATX Computer Case - White
  • Toughpower Grand RGB 850 Watts 80 Plus Gold ATX Fully Modular Power Supply
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 FTW3 Ultra Gaming Triple-Fan 8GB GDDR6 PCIe 4.0 Graphics Card
  • 970 EVO Plus SSD 1TB M.2 NVMe Interface PCIe 3.0 x4 Internal Solid State Drive with V-NAND 3 bit MLC Technology (MZ-V7S1T0B/AM)

    Greetings.

    What's your intended budget?

Currently you don't have any operating system listed. You also have only 1 drive listed here, 1TB seems lot a lot of storage on paper but for gaming, some modern titles can easily be ~100-150GB of space, if not more, so you may want to consider another drive such as a 3.5" hard drive for more mass storage purposes.

  • Thank you for your feedback.

My budget is about $2400. Do you think the video card is good pair with the CPU?

In order to save more space, instead of getting another 3.5" hard drive, could I just change from 1TB SSD to 2TB SSD? Also, I chose Windows 11 for the operating system.

    • 970 EVO Plus SSD 2TB M.2 NVMe Interface PCIe 3.0 x4 Internal Solid State Drive with V-NAND 3-bit MLC Technology (MZ-V7S2T0B/AM)
    • Windows 11 Home 64-Bit FPP USB - English

Your CPU/video card combo would be completely fine to use. You can add another m.2 drive for storage, that would work as well.

Check the video editing software you intend to use because sometimes the 3060 is the preferred choice due to having more memory.

Consider a PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSD instead of the 3.0. Samsung 980 Pro will do nicely.
