The Micro Center Mid-Summer TV Buying Guide!
TV shopping can be a hassle, especially when you’re looking for the latest and greatest. Thankfully, our Champions have picked out five of their favorite TVs to make the decision process just a little bit easier!
LG OLED65C3PUA 65" Class (64.5" Diag.) 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV by @RachelleR05
If you’re shopping for a TV, you want something that has it all and will support everything you want to do with it. You can find yourself stuck between two different models not knowing which one to go with. Thankfully, I think there’s an easy answer: the LG OLED 65C3PUA 65"(557090). This TV has it all. The internal processor produces that crisp and vibrant color picture quality you crave, and the brightness booster keeps everything clear and visible. Its pixel-based screen and true black picture will fill the entire room, giving you that “in the middle of the action” feeling. With a low response time of 0.1ms and a high refresh time of 120hz, it can be used for both binge-watching and playing video games. This OLED has the perfect sound system inside, which uses Dolby Atmos, no sound bar needed. This is perfect because there is no extra wiring or extra remotes. If you’re like me living in an apartment with a bunch of windows where the sun always shines in, this is the best option to go with. It has anti-glare technology, which means the sun can shine all day and I won’t have that light reflecting back making it impossible to enjoy whatever I have on the screen.
To sum it all up, this OLED meets all the criteria for binge-watchers (like myself), gamers, and film buffs. From its perfect picture, and anti-glare quality to the high-quality audio without extra speakers, this is a stellar TV for anyone looking for an all-arounder.
Samsung QN98QN90AAFXZA 98" Class (97.5" Diag.) 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV by @Shoan041
Samsung has been a big name in televisions for a long time, but that doesn’t mean they’re resting on their laurels. Instead, they’re constantly innovating and improving with offerings like the QLED lineup. The QLEDs are Samsung’s main competitor for OLEDs on the market and have always looked very nice, even compared to the OLEDs they were made to compete with. They feature a brighter display and work better in well-lit rooms. They even made great efforts to make their blacks almost as dark as OLEDs. The QLED high-end televisions feature stellar light panels in the back with multiple dimming zones, which let them get darker in specific sections, rather than darkening the whole screen. They also excel in durability over older OLEDs, which can burn out or have screen burn-in problems with long-term use. And QLEDs are still getting better. Enter the Neo QLED!
The new Neo QLEDs have even smaller LEDs than the older QLEDs. They are only 1/40th the size of older versions of QLEDs, enabling the screen to display details better, show color changes to a smaller degree, and even more dimming zones! Neo QLEDs offer a smoother picture with more vibrant colors. I think this is the best LED 4K LED tv on the market, with blacks almost as good as an OLED and far better than any other LED option. It even performs well for gaming, though I recommend it for more cinematic, single-player experiences rather than twitchy, multiplayer gaming.
LG 42LX3Q 42" Class (41.5" Diag.) 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV by @ricardo_ortega
Ever had a hard time trying to debate whether to invest in a gaming curved monitor or a TV for your bedroom with limited space? I recommend going with the best of both worlds: an LG OLED Flex. This beauty has the capability to go from a flat display for your daily streaming to a 900R curve for gaming. But you don’t have to just choose one or the other - the Flex provides 20 flexible options to explore and find the perfect ideal arc. And that’s on top of a 42”, 4K smart TV base that provides a whopping 120Hz refresh rate and a 0.1ms response time for smooth gameplay. If you’re worried about glare, Flex features SAR (LG Super Anti Reflection) for 25% less reflection. It even has a USB switching hub for your mouse and keyboard as well as backlit colors that can be synced with the sound of the Flex.
Overall, this is one of the more unique designs that LG has made, with an ultra-thin display, and is an impressive idea to introduce in the market. Sometimes having the flexible option to go from flat to curve is a must-have.
Samsung QN65QN85BAFXZA 65" Class (64.5" Diag.) 4K Ultra HD Smart Neo QLED TV by @ChaosDTV
The Samsung QN65 is a 2023 65 inch QLED 4K Smart TV that offers excellent picture quality, a wide range of features, and a sleek design. It features a Quantum Processor with 4K Upscaling that automatically transforms your content into 4K, and Quantum HDR 4X that delivers stunning contrast and color. The TV also has a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth motion, and it's compatible with FreeSync Premium Pro for enhanced gaming performance.
In addition to its excellent picture quality, the QN65 also has a wide range of features that make it a great choice for a smart TV. It runs on the Tizen operating system, which gives you access to a wide variety of streaming apps, including Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney+. The TV also has a built-in voice assistant, so you can control it with your voice.
The QN65 is a great choice for anyone looking for a high-quality 4K TV with a wide range of features.
LG OLED65C2PUA 65" Class (64.5" Diag.) 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV by @TreBouncee
OLED technology has been all the rage in the last 5 years. From portable devices like the Nintendo Switch to televisions, the screen type is popular for those looking for true blacks and deep, vibrant colors. And if you’re looking for high-quality OLED screens, The LG C2 stands near the pinnacle of TVs currently on the market. The entire series is known for its ability to display incredibly high-quality images while being great for gamers with a 120hz refresh rate. It tends to be the ‘monitor’ of choice for gamers as well as those looking for a crisp display. Like most LG OLEDs, the C2 features superb build quality while being lighter than its predecessor thanks to the carbon fiber materials it’s made from.
As I touched on earlier, the C2 tends to be a great choice amongst gamers, as it features HDMI 2.1 which supports 4k at 120hz. That combination gets a large, beautiful display that is just as quick as other monitors in its price range. From a value standpoint, I believe the “65C2PUA” – the 65” model - gives you the best bang for your buck. Whether it was placed in the living room, in a home theatre or in the bedroom, the C265 won’t fail to impress. Of course, there are a wide range of screen sizes, including 42”, 48”, 55”, 65”, or 77”. At the end of the day, you won’t be disappointed no matter the screen size, as the C2 series is one of the best television lines being produced right now, and because it has such a wide range of uses, it's got something for everyone.
