Now Available: The AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT and 7800 XT!
Written by Sean Mekinda
AMD's mid-range has just arrived at Micro Center! The AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT and 7800 XT are fantastic options for breaking into 1440p, with AMD reporting stable 60+ FPS at max setting in recent AAA games like Hogwarts Legacy and STAR WARS: Jedi Survivor. And if you're an esports gamer, AMD reports 200+ FPS in Overwatch 2 and 100+ FPS in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. If you're ready to take the next big leap into the high-definition world of 1440p and won't want to break your budget doing so, these are the cards for you!
What's New With 7000 Series GPUs?
The past few launches have proved that the Radeon RX 7000 lineup is no joke. Not only are they fully loaded with industry-leading tech that boosts power and efficiency for a 1.7x performance increase over the previous generation of cards, but they also use some of AMD's latest and greatest software like AMD FSR.
AMD RDNA 3 Architecture
AMD's RDNA 3 Architecture - found in all 7000 Series cards - is the basis for all of the leaps and bounds that AMD's new lineup brings. They're the first GPU to use a chiplet design, feature new compute units, and include the new second-generation AMD Infinity Cache. That's a lot of tech terms to say that AMD's RDNA 3 Architecture boosts performance and speed in rendering, AI, and raytracing, no matter what you're doing.
The new chiplet design delivers up to 15% higher frequencies with up to 54% better power efficiency. It takes advantage of AMD Infinity Cache to support up to 5.3TB/s of bandwidth
The Radeon RX 7000 series are also the only cards on the market to support DisplayPort 2.1, meaning you can make full use of that 4K (or 8K!) high-refresh-rate gaming monitor, with support up to 480Hz for 4K and 165Hz for 8K.
AMD FSR 2.2 and Beyond
AMD FSR, or Fidelity Super Resolution, is AMD's own upscaling tool, built to help push your GPU even further by rendering frames at lower resolutions and then, utilizing AI, upping the quality. This means you'll be able to play the latest and greatest AAA releases without sacrificing your frame rate! We've got a full breakdown of it right over here.
FSR currently works on a wide range of AAA and esports titles including Cyberpunk 2077, STAR WARS: Jedi Survivor, and Overwatch 2. FSR 2.2 is the latest release and is designed to improve visual fidelity even further. FSR 3 is coming in the new year and boasts an even bigger upgrade, with an expected 2x greater FPS over FSR 2
