My PC powered on and off for a few seconds repediatley, and now it wont do anything?

Hello, I built a PC with parts from micro center:

MSI B650-P PRO WiFi AMD AM5 ATX

AMD Ryzen 7 7700X

G.Skill Flare X5 Series 32GB (2 x 16GB)

Lian Li Lancool II MESH Performance Type C Tempered Glass

Seasonic USA Focus GX-850 (ATX3.0) 850 Watt

PowerColor AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT Red Dragon

I built the PC, turned it on, and the motherboard and the GPU would light up, and then turn off immediately, and it would repeat every 10 seconds. So I unplugged every connection to the PSU, confirmed that it worked, and replugged it in. I also reinstated the RAM. Now it doesn't turn on at all, and I'm not sure what else there is to do

Sounds like an electrical short. I believe that chassis has a Fan/RGB controller that connects to the PSU via SATA. Disconnect that. Unplug the system from the wall for 30 seconds. Then connect it and try again. Do not reconnect the SATA for the fan/RGB controller.

Thank you for the help, that still didn't work though, its still powering on shortly, and then powering off imediatley

Pull the motherboard out. Put it on a piece of cardboard. Keep it as simple as possible. Motherboard, CPU, Cooler, one stick of RAM. For the PSU connect the 24 pin and 8 pin CPU only. Disconnect the other modular cables.

Yeah it's still powering on, and then immediately powering off, so it' has to be something with one of those parts?

Has to be. I'd check the CPU socket for bent pins or anything obvious. Otherwise, it's down to Motherboard/PSU being the most likely point of failure. I would lean more towards the motherboard given the symptoms. Usually that's the kind of symptom of a short on a 5V rail. If you see that on a 12V it usually just powers off and stays off.

@PowerSpec_MikeW i see a little issue with the pins, i’m not sure if that’s enough to know if it’s the motherboard’s fault. should i consider bringing both parts in? i have a warranty on the motherboard and i believe the psu automatically comes with a 10 year warranty.

It certainly looks like you have a few damaged pins. The top left looks pretty bad.

Hey thanks for the help, I was able to get my PC working, the small issue is that when I start the computer, and try to set up windows, and try to connect to a wifi network, it doesnt display any wifi networks at all. I don't think I can install any drivers because I cant access windows.

Do this.

1. Shift + F10
2. Click in the command prompt window and type the below two commands, then press enter.
3. cd oobe
4. bypassnro.cmd

It'll restart then you'll be able to choose the option that you don't have internet to setup a local account and install your drivers. You can sign in with the Microsoft account once you're online.

I did that, thank you. Wifi works, but it's spotty and doesn't connect well or even work. It's probably an issue on my end, I'll try to fix it though. Thanks for all your help

Check that the antennas are attached to the rear IO.

I don't think it's a router issue. The wifi works fine on other computers, it's just slow on this one

Hey im so sorry to reach out again, I just realized my motherboard came with antennas that are not connected to the motherboard. I have no idea how to connect them, and I'm not sure if I'm missing a part to connect them
