PSU recommendations

Options

I recently bought the corsair SF-L Series SF1000L 1000 Watt power supply, and the cables aren't long enough to reach the motherboard. I found some cables that were long enough, but some were not. Is there any power supply that anyone recommends for me? I have a 5000D airflow case and an MSI B650-P Pro WiFi.

  • Hi @Burgereer,

I would suggest buying the Corsair RM1000e or RM1000x power supply. The SF1000L is meant for smaller SFX cases and wasn't really meant for regular ATX cases.......

  • Modular vs. standard Power Supply design is an issue. I now prefer non-modular, which cannot of course allow for custom cabling of color themes and cannot allow for limiting the cabling dangling from the supply to just the feeds actually used in your build. I discovered that extra embedded cabling dangling off the non-modular power supplies could fairly readily be zip-tied up and tucked out of sight. Also, as much as I enjoy RGB lighting on some fans, and as much as I prefer plenty of max-power available, if you're looking to select a new PSU, then 800 or 850 watts does result in a less heavy unit usually, which is better on carriage of the chassis, done rarely but still a nicety to consider. 800-850 maximum rating is excellent without quite the weight involved, and also non-modular systems are bit better on cost.
