Audio trouble

I recently built a new pc and when I plugged in my headphones, the audio is really bad. I can hear discord notifications just fine. However, the problem is that when I'm watching youtube or talking on discord, it sounds awful. The drivers for my headphones are all up to date.

The only thing that helps is changing the device properties. I can hear them, but it's still the same quality. When I'm playing games, the audio is fine.

Are they 3.5mm or USB headphones?

Alright, so we're looking at the audio controller on the board. Two things I would look for.

1. Some type of audio enhancement software packaged with the audio driver. I assume it's a Realtek Codec, look for something like Nahimic and uninstall it.
2. Windows + R, type: mmsys.cpl. Select the headset, advanced tab. Play with the format setting here.

I found what the problem was. The audio cable wasn't fully connected to my motherboard.
