Is it possible to use my current iMac 21" Late 2013 as only a monitor for a new Mac Mini?

Hi All ...

I am in the market for a new iMac. If there is going to be aa 30" M3 Pro version, I will wait for it. On the other hand, my present unit is 10 years old and ready to start having problems. Could I take a new Mac Mini and somehow use the monitor function of my iMac 21" just to get through until th 30" iMac comes out? In other words, how can I use an older iMac as a monitor only? Thanks very much.

Hi, Washbush!

Unfortunately, "Target Display Mode" doesn't work on a pre-2019 Mac paired with a post-2019 Mac. If your Mac Mini happens to be one produced before 2019, it won't work with if upgraded to Catalina or newer. You would have to revert to High Sierra or earlier.
