I need help figuring out what GPU would be best for my pc.

I am new to the PC world and need help with parts. My friend gave me their old setup but my GPU is a little dated. I am doing it on a budget so I have an ASUS TUF gaming A520M-plus (wifi) AMD AM4 microATX motherboard and a Ryzen 5 5500 CPU. My GPU is I want to say a 720 something. It runs all the games I play however now my graphics need to be updated unless it is a different problem. The graphics on Minecraft and some other games I play bug out and look like spears or random glitches within the games. I just need to know the compatibility and what would work that would be under 500$. I am trying to learn as much as I can about builds so anything will be helpful!

Based on your details, I assumed your current GPU is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 720 and it looks like this is a pretty severe bottleneck on the side of the GPU, as you said.

With that I started to explore modern GPUs in your budget to find you a great fit.

The best GPU for your budget is the NVIDIA GeForce 4060 TI. Its going to be about 9-32% too powerful for your processor (depending on resolution of your monitor) but would be able to provide that improved performance if you choose to upgrade your processor in the future.

I'd say that the best fit in modern GPUs to go with your current build is a NVIDIA GeForce 4060. This will provide a powerful modern GPU with only about a 1% bottleneck on the processor at 4K resolution (up to about 26% at 1080p). This is ideal for the system so that you're getting the absolute most out of both components.
