PowerSpec G517 Prebuilt Gaming PC Randomly Restarting
I recently purchased a PowerSpec G517, and it's been restarting every few hours. It happens when I'm gaming, and when I'm not. Like I said, completely random. I was wondering if anybody else has had this issue before, and what could be done to fix it. And to my knowledge, it's just windows restarting as the PC itself doesn't seem to be turning off.

Sorry for the issues with the new system, we'll certainly help you get this resolved. What in event viewer under Administrative Events around the time of the crash? More importantly, you'll see a Kernel-Power event, what's below it?
-
Just now getting to this, I'm thinking it might be some sort of power draw issue. Gaming and performance wise, the computer has done exactly what you'd expect it to do. I'm wondering if like I said, maybe it's some sort of power draw issue, that being too much or too little.
Also, I'm not sure if this matters, but there's a red tipped cable plugged into my gpu that is ziptied and not connected to anything.
-
The red PCIe is an extra cable, not required for that GPU. What's the WHEALogger ID 19 errors say?
-
CPU or RAM issue?
-
It's possible, but if it's RAM or the IMC on the CPU it should just BSOD. I think it's more likely it's pointing towards an issue on the PCIe bus. Video goes out. I'd like you to check something for me and try one thing.
- Check C:\Windows\minidump. See if the folder exists.
- Run this program to disable ULPS on the Radeon card. Let me know if the system keeps restarting:
-
Minidump does exist. I just ran that program as well. I'll keep you updated.
-
Then you've had at least one BSOD, probably just knocked the video out first. Please run this and screenshot the result:

Alright, doesn't tell us much except that the majority of the crashes are not logged. Let me know if the crashes persist.

@PowerSpec_MikeW It just randomly restarted again. Thinking about returning it to the store and exchanging it for a new one.
-
That would be my recommendation. Let us exchange it for you, as this is going to be a difficult problem to troubleshoot given the time between the reboots. We apologize for the trouble. Let me know if you have any issues with the new system.
-
@PowerSpec_MikeW For sure, thanks for the help man. I'm gonna go ahead and take it back to micro center sometime tomorrow. Again, thanks for your help. Still more than happy to buy from microcenter, as I'm pretty sure I'm just super unlucky.

We appreciate that and we haven't had any other issues with this model. We'll always investigate any issues we hear about. This type of failure which I would assume is probably a failing PSU, is very difficult to catch at QC.
