No WiFi on new custom PC build
Good afternoon,
I completed my custom PC build and I booted Windows 11 from a USB drive. During Windows onboarding, I was unable to select a WiFi access point. So, I Shift + F10 and typed: OOBE\BYPASSNRO which allowed the computer to restart and I was able to bypass the WiFi screen by selecting "I don't have internet". Now that I am in Windows 11, I need assistance with downloading the proper driver(s) or troubleshooting so I can get connected to the internet. I had even downloaded this driver: "Intel WiFi Driver V23.10.0.8 For Windows 10/11 64-bit." for my specific motherboard on a USB drive but when I run the Asus Setup application, I received an error: "Does not support this Operating System: WNT_10.0H_ 11_64" Ethernet is not in near proximity. My motherboard: Asus ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO ATX LGA1700. OS is Windows 11. Anyone of assistance?
Thank-you.

Solution: USB with driver installation inside of the Asus motherboard box. 😅

Greetings,
Any drivers would be found on the motherboard manufacturer's website for this.
Are you extracting the files off the flash drive onto somewhere on your PC and running the ASUS setup file from the extracted folder?

Hi Ian,
I just extracted the files into a folder on my desktop and when I ran the ASUS setup application, nothing pops up. I also ran as administrator.

Do a inf install. Open device manager and find the WIFI card under "Other Devices". Probably as a "Network Controller". Right click - Update driver - Browse my Computer - Browse - Direct it to the extract folder:UWD\Win64\Drivers. Click next and let it find the right driver.

Hello Mike,
I opened device manager and clicked the drop down menu for "Other Devices". I do not see "Network Controller". I only see "PCI Device" listed 4 times, "PCI Simple Communications Controller", "RAID Controller", "SM Bus Controller", "Universal Serial BUS (USB) Controller, "Unknown Device" listed 2 times. In that order. Any other suggestions?

You can just go into that folder and right click and install the inf files. Start with 08, that's probably it, or 6e. Not going to be an issue to have an extra inf in the repository you're not using.
