G235 fan LEDs not working
My son's G235 was all working great, now the fans no longer light up. There doesn't seem to be any software loaded to control that. Is there something I am missing to fix it?

it could be a few different things. the software to control rgb on asus motherboards is called "aura sync" and is part of the "armoury crate" software package. you can find armoury crate on the asus website, if it's not already installed on the system. if that doesn't do the trick, one of the rgb cables might have come loose. argb (3 pins, 5v) is especially prone to this. it can also happen with rgb (4 pins, 12v) pretty easily too. if you're not familiar with those connectors but want to check the physical connections, look up images so you better know what to look for before opening up the back panel.
if there's a button on the case to cycle through rgb settings, that means motherboard software control likely won't have an effect and there would probably be a controller module to which the fans/rgb would be connected - typically somewhere on the back side of the system. check those connections if there is a controller. also, those controllers can sometimes fail and would need to be replaced (they generally aren't expensive if it's not still warrantied).
if those don't seem to be the issue, a header on the motherboard itself could be the problem. if the motherboard has multiple rgb headers, try a different one. please note that 3 pin argb (sometimes referred to differently depending on brand) is 5v, and 4 pin rgb is 12v. these are not compatible & will cause issues if a device that requires one is plugged into the other. they're typically keyed appropriately to help users avoid this, but i think it's worthwhile to point out anyway.
there does exist a small chance it could be power supply/power supply cable related, but in my experience that isn't worth investigating until all other options are ruled out if the computer is working fine otherwise.
good luck, and respond to this comment if you'd like or need further help! i'm not employed by micro center but i do a lot of troubleshooting with computer hardware and enjoy it. -
Thanks for the informative post. The other motherboard port works. Now I have to decide if I should take it in (it is only 6 months old) or leave it connected there and hope that one holds up ok.
Thanks again,
Scott

Armoury Crate should be preinstalled, but you can get it here:
You confirmed one of the ARGB headers is faulty? We'll swap the board at any point under the manufacturers warranty.
