3 day old G478. Installed an additional SSD on the motherboard and now the system wont turn on.

Had to dismount the video card to get to the SSD slot. Reinstalled. Only sign of power is light at the Ethernet connection. No fans. No lights. Did a power reset (unplugged, hold on/off for 30 secs) mentioned in another post. Checked all cable connections to the motherboard; they are all good (not loose). Any suggestions?

Check the power switch pins on the bottom right. Try to jump it with a screw driver. You've got standby power. When you jump it listen carefully, see if you hear any sounds from the PSU. Discharge the unit before you try.

I downloaded the manual for the motherboard and saw that the on/off switch connects to the JFP1 connector. I removed the connector from pins 6&8 and tried your suggestion. No luck; nothing happened. Put the connector back on those pins. Nothing. Do you have another suggestion? How do I tell if the power supply is working?

You get power on the ethernet, so you must at least have standby power. Unplug the system, wait a minute and try again. Listen closely to the system. If there's no sound at all, we'll need to service the system.
