Asus Tuf Gaming laptop not charging

Purchased Asus Tuf Gaming FX507ZI in February 2024. In the past week it stopped charging when operating. If I shut down the laptop, unplug and replug the adapter from the laptop, it won’t charge, BUT if I unplug and replug the adapter from the outlet, it begins to charge and will continue to 100% battery. Unfortunately, as soon as I turn on the laptop and log in, it stops charging and runs off battery until dead or shut down. When operating, if I unplug and replug the adapter from the laptop, it still won’t charge. If I unplug and replug the adapter from the outlet, the laptop flashes to plugged in and then flashes back to battery. It’s almost like the adapter cannot handle running when on/loaded and trips(?), but will charge a shut down laptop. Does unplugging and replugging the adapter from the outlet reset the adapter in some way… until it’s loaded again? I’m hoping all I need is a new adapter. Thanks.
