PC doesn't receive input audio from headphones.

I've had an issue where my PC doesn't detect input audio from my headphones. It worked fine before. The only two things that happened between it working and not working is that I moved and then I tried to clean the inside of the computer with isopropyl alcohol and microfiber cloth.

When I plug my headset in, it seems as though it sees a microphone but doesn't receive any input from it. I have tried two different headsets and the two audio jacks on the PC, but I get the same result. I did try to do a Bluetooth connection with one headset, but the audio quality was really bad. I have updated my drivers so make sure it wasn't that.

Other than buying and trying a microphone or a Bluetooth headset, what other options do I have? Everything worked correctly before.

Currently operating on Windows 10.

Any help would be appreciated!

To be clear you're testing the audio on the front and rear of the PC? Neither work? I'd assume it's a Realtek HD Audio controller. I'd uninstall the software and test on the inbox driver. See if there's something screwed up with the soft ports.

  • @PowerSpec_MikeW Thanks for the tip. I'm sorry it took a while for me to say anything. I got distracted with other things and hadn't come back to this.

It is a Realtek Audio controller. I tried connecting the headset to any available jack and hadn't gotten any sound. I will try and do what you said. Hopefully to some good results.
