can I install pcie 4.0 nvme m.2 ssd onto a asrock z390 pro4 motherboard?
I just got the drive today and wanted to know does that MB take that ssd drive? and where to install it at? I also don't have a heat sink but they look really cheap to buy.

Either M.2 slot, they're both support NVMe x4 and it's backwards compatible. You'll get 3.0 rather than 4.0 speeds though. You'll cap out on the PCIe interface around 4GB/s.

so in order to have it 4.0 speeds, would I have to go into the BIOS and change it or it won't make any difference with the HDDs? and thank you for answering.

Board is PCIe 3.0 on the M.2 slots, nothing you can do to change it.

oh ok., thank you so much.

will I need to get a heat sink for it?
