Requesting Help - New PowerSpec G447 WiFi Issues - Connection Dropping
Hello!
Yesterday, I purchased a new PowerSpec G447 PC from my local Micro Center. The install went (almost) perfectly. Installed and updated Windows 11. Installed a FL Studio and an online game for testing purposes. It's an amazing value for its capabilities, performance and price.
Everything works well except for a problem with WiFi.
I am hoping you can help me with this issue:
The WiFi interface is intermittently dropping its connection to our Comcast Xfinity router, sometimes for a few seconds before reconnecting. Sometimes it gives up on retrying, and I have to manually select the router again and connect. Yesterday it was happening intermittently, every 20 mins or so. Then it was normal for several hours, then a few more intermittent drops.
Here are the conditions within which the problem is occurring.
- Comcast xFi Advanced 5Ghz Gateway (XB7)
- The previous PC worked perfectly with the existing Wifi
- I have not changed any configuration of the the Wifi service
- When the connection was dropping, there were no others in the house using any devices that might have been hogging bandwidth.
- The router/gateway is 20 feet from the G447, in a nearby room. We use our other devices up to 100 ft away, so it's not a distance issue
- I have attached the antennas to the G447 WiFi card - they are firmly and tightly attached
- I did not change any of the default WiFi settings in Device Manager or anywhere else on the G447
- The WiFi connection drops regardless of what the PC is being used for. It drops when just sitting idle, or when a game is being played, etc.
Any ideas why this might be happening, or any advice how I could troubleshoot it?
Thank you!
Jeff

Are you showing a good signal strength to the router? I'd want to make sure it's not a problem with the other end of the antenna connection first.

I have the same exact issue. Powerspec G520
I came in yesterday and exchanged for the new computer and am working on setting it up today. Same exact issue. It found my wireless network, but would not connect to the internet. (for context, I'm sitting next to the new machine with my MacBook and getting 500+ mbps).
So I was able to use my phone hotspot to finish the basic set-up on the computer as I didn't want to turn it off halfway through the first boot. nI was able to get on the internet as fast as a phone hotspot can get you. Then I tried to switch back over to my regular, very fast internet and it would connect to the network but not provide internet. So I figured, what the hell, let's unscrew the antennas and take them off to see what happens. And sure enough, the minute I unplugged the 2nd antenna, yahoo.com loaded and I was able to navigate the web. I did a speed test and only got a slow 78mbps, which is expected due to not having any antennas on the back.
All that to be said. It looks like the antennas don't work. Is there a remedy to that problem? A driver that needs to be installed? Based on this - and the fact that you couldn't replay the issue in store as you were doing tests with no antennas (I was told to leave the old antennas at home) - it's obvious the issue lies with the antennas. Let me know!

Entirely possible the antenna itself is defective. We can replace it, it's going to be a hardware issue.
