What parts would I need that can handle a 4k oled 12hz tv?

I’m going to buy a tv –

LG 42-Inch Class OLED evo C4 Series Smart TV 4K Processor Flat Screen with Magic Remote AI-Powered with Alexa Built-in (OLED42C4PUA, 2024)

Display OLED

Refresh rate 120 Hz

Features

  • 4K upscaling via a9 Gen 7 AI processor
  • Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HLG

My current computer has onboard video and only outputs at 60hz.

I’m looking to get a new computer that will give me the best picture possible for Movies and YouTube.

I don’t play any games.

Could someone suggest compatible parts to buy to build a new PC that can handle this TV at a decent price? I know it’s going to be over $1,000 and possibly up to $1,500.

Thanks so much for taking time out of your day to answer this post.

Hi! It seems that you may be fine enough already. While a PC is great to run everything a bit faster, it depends on what you really need it for. I'd advise you to look into what native apps are on the TV already and what you can download. YouTube, other video services, and movies can all be played on most smart TVs (excluding CD/DVD* discs unless you have a player).

If you are looking for other general purposes to search things up, use specific websites, or anything else I wouldn't have much to help with you, but there are already posts about those builds.

Since your TV is 4k 120hz it will display amazing quality for almost anything you watch and won't have any performance issues for such video! It is for sure an excellent pick.

Some questions I have for you are:

*Do you already have a PC?
    - If not you will not need to build one for movies and YouTube as the TV can already run them perfectly!
    - If you do, then you can continue using that pc at no reduction to your quality or speeds.

*Are you planning to use the TV for any other purposes?

Let me know if there's any more issues you have or any questions you have?
If I didn't answer your question, also feel free to let me know and I'll try to respond quickly!

I apologize if I am missing something, I am just a little confused on what your goals are.
  • I have a computer with:
CPu Ryzen 5 5600g with onboard video  6 cores and 12 threads, operating frequencies up to 3.9GHz and 16 MB of L3 cache - STOCK fan

Radeon graphics cores to allow you to play at 1080p without a dedicated graphics card.

    TV is 3840x2160

Motherboard ASUS Prime B550M A wifi

    16 GB DDR4 MEMORY

    SSD 2.5" sata 250gb

    600w psu

    SSD 250gb sata 2.5"

Don't you think adding a graphics card that can handle 4k would be worth it? Let's say I want to watch a tropical fish aquarium. Wouldn't I be better off with a dedicated GPU?

*Are you planning to use the TV for any other purposes? No.

  • You can use your TV as it has its own system inside designed to run 4k resolution effectively by itself. If there are features that are on the internet that aren't available on the pc you should still be able to run them fine.
Remember that you don't need your pc connected to the TV to watch anything. If you do, it works as a great monitor.
Unless you need to edit or create videos, design 3d stuff, or play video games you don't really need a graphics card. Most people use a GPU (graphics card) for video games.

Have fun with your TV! Only upgrade your PC if you need it for something other than movies or video.

Only upgrade or get new parts if you are looking to do other things with it.

Again, modern TVs are their own complete system.
  • Any modern CPUs such as the one you have are able to use integrated graphics and handle 4k easily.
The AMD Ryzen 5 5600g is really good at playing video and doesn't struggle at all.
  • If you absolutely do want a decent GPU to pair with your CPU then I'd suggest the RX 6600. It is a very inexpensive card for not much more than $200.

I don't suggest this if you are looking to save as much as possible and it's really not necessary for your use case.

The GPU would be able to play video from the pc at that quality from any service or YouTube. It would also help in case you did decide to use it for anything else.

I'll be using the TV as a monitor.

are you saying that the TV l will upgrade the 1080 signal to 4k?
