PowerSpec 1530 Replacement Keyboard

Hi.

Anyone know where to get a replacement keyboard for my 1530?

There are plenty of keyboards on ebay for the Clevo PB50 series laptop, but they are either not backlit, universally backlit (white), or zone RGB backlit.

The 1530 seems to be unique in having what they are call a per-key backlight which means each key has multiple backlight colors available. My keyboard has 3 ribbon connectors (not one).

My - (dash/minus) key is stuck on/down (not the one on the main keyboard but rather the - minus key on the numerical portion of the keyboard) rendering the laptop quite useless.

I don't think it's an issue with the key itself, but rather something is shorted in the layered keyboard PCB.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Love the laptop, but can't effectively use it.
Thx

We haven't made these in quite a while. I went sifting through our old inventory, found one unit and it unfortunately also has a bad keyboard. I'll keep an eye out and see if I can find one to part out. If so, the keyboard is yours, but I can't make any promises.

So your issue functionally is there's constant key presses from that key? Could you disconnect the keyboard, then use a USB keyboard and try remapping the key to doing nothing with a tool like this? https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/powertoys/keyboard-manager

  • Yes, that is the issue: mostly constant key presses registering for the minus key on the numerical keypad section of the keyboard.  I thought it was the dash key, but wasn't.  (Both keys enter the same hex ASCII code).  Recently, I had a memory stick go bad (it was out of the extended warranty 😞)  After replacing it, the key started malfunctioning.  I found that if I leave the right-hand side of the keyboard unseated in the frame, it twists it slightly and reduces the frequency of the issue, but doesn't eliminate the problem which leads me to believe it's the PCB, not the key itself.  That's also because I've taken the key cap off and blown it out with compressed air with no positive result.  Ever try to do anything in Windows with a key stuck? (it's impossible 😞)  It originally was an open box and when I bought it, the internal speakers didn't work.  The MC service center fixed the issue (pinched audio cable against case).  It's been working great since then, until the memory went bad, that is. I'll try that app, but I don't know if it will also disable the dash key since it's the same ASCII code (I use dashes all the time in my work).  It's a "gaming laptop", but I don't use it for that. Anything you can find would be greatly, greatly appreciated.  😀  Thx!
