Issue posting with ASUS PRIME B650M-A AX II motherboard after I added another stick of RAM

hey all, coming here because I am at my fucking limit

pc specs:
MOBO: ASUS PRIME B650M-A AX II
CPU: Ryzen 5 9600x
RAM: 2 x 16 GB G.Skill Flare x 5 DDR5 6000 MHz
GPU: AMD RX580
PSU: 850W

this morning, I go to work, and double check my PC—it works fine. At that point I go to work, and my boss gives me another stick of ram as a Christmas present

fast forward, I get home, PC stops working. now, I've had issues with this PC not booting before but that was because I didn't read the mobo manual thoroughly and didn't realize the mobo prefers the 2nd channel to the 1st when putting in memory.

no such reading comprehension issue here, however. I've got the RAM in the preferred configuration for 2 sticks, A2/B2. I've changed *nothing* else about this build.

It doesn't work. I take out the 2nd stick of RAM in the B2 slot, the new one. Doesn't work.

I put the new stick in the A2 slot and put the old stick to the side. Nothing.

I don't know what's happening and am close to death. I just got on break for two weeks, and as such cannot bring the PC to my boss until January for him to check my work.

Please help. I really hope the motherboard isn't fuckdd because I didn't keep the box.

  • quick update

BIOS Flashback did somewhere between "jack" and "shit"

Double-checked ASUS' compatibility page and the specific RAM i got in the bundle (mentioned above, Flare-X5 DDR5 6000 MHz from GSKILL) and it isn't on there, but the frequency and voltage and all that is fine and my pc was literally working this morning so I figure its not that. Could be, but probably not.

best working theory is either RAM incompatibility or I'm purchasing myself another motherboard for christmas

and all microcenter has are variations on the B650M-A AX II. Wonderful.

  • I'm glad you were able to get that figured out! :) I'm just checking in to make sure everything is still going smoothly.

  • I love you, random internet person. Saved me from so much trouble!
  • I purchased the same mother board as a package deal. I t came with a cpu and one stick of ram.

After assembly, It would not boot. I brought to M/C for service. They charged me 80 bucks and said they finally got it to work.

After a week with no issues, I added 3 more sticks and the same thing happened. I brought it back since the repair work was still guaranteed. They called and said, "Yeah, you got a defective motherboard. We can replace it for 100 bucks and we won't charge you for a new board." I told them to skip the install and just give me a new board.

All went well for about a week and now I have no video signal. I have tried different cables and various monitors to no avail.

I am not sure what to do at this point.
