New Store Location Proposal- Phoenix/Scottsdale/Tempe Az

Hello All, new to the member board but long time Micro Center enthusiast. I see there are many of these but I think the one that makes the most sense is my home location of Phoenix , AZ.

1.) 5th Largest City in the country

2.) Busy friend State and Environment

3.) Semiconductor Hub with both TSMC and Intel

4.) Closest current Micro Center Location is San Diego

5.) Five and most importantly, I live here 😂

  • Hi! Thank you so much for the support. I have actually personally seen quite a few posts for Phoenix recently here.. I will make sure out real estate team is aware of this!

  • Don't forget ASU is here in Tempe - 5th largest university in the US!

  • Yeah I'm honestly shocked that Micro Center is not already here in Phoenix area. PLEASE COME SOON!

  • Opening a Micro Center in the Phoenix Valley could offer significant advantages due to the area’s substantial and rapidly growing population, coupled with a current lack of dedicated computer hardware stores.

    Population Insights:

    • City of Phoenix:

As of 2025, the city’s population is approximately 1,675,144, reflecting a steady annual growth rate of 0.75%.

    • Phoenix Metropolitan Area:

    • The metro area has experienced consistent growth:

    • 2023: 4,717,000 residents

    • 2024: 4,777,000 residents (1.27% increase from 2023)

    • 2025: 4,834,000 residents (1.19% increase from 2024)

    • Maricopa County:

Home to Phoenix, Maricopa County is the fourth most populous county in the U.S., with approximately 4.5 million residents.

    Growth Dynamics:

    • In 2024, the Phoenix metro area added nearly 85,000 residents, primarily due to migration:

    • Approximately 49,000 international newcomers.

    • Around 21,000 domestic transplants.

Natural increase (births minus deaths) contributed about 14,500 people.

The city’s growth rate has been notable, with a 1.9% increase reported, underscoring its status as one of the fastest-growing cities in the nation.

    Implications for Micro Center:

    • Market Demand:

    • A growing population, particularly among tech-savvy demographics, suggests a rising demand for computer hardware and related services.

    • Limited Competition:

    • The absence of specialized computer hardware stores in the Phoenix Valley presents an opportunity for Micro Center to establish itself as the go-to destination for tech enthusiasts and professionals.

    • Economic Vitality:

    • The influx of new residents contributes to economic growth, potentially increasing consumer spending power and supporting retail success.

By capitalizing on these factors, Micro Center can strategically position itself to serve the needs of a burgeoning and underserved market in the Phoenix Valley.

  • The population of the Phoenix metro area is now over 5 million and is projected to be at leas 7.5 million by 2050. Tucson is only 2-3 hours away and that area has a population of around 1 million. The only computer parts dealer here is Worst Buy, which is pretty much as good has having no one. Tustin is the closest Microcenter and is 365 miles away and the 13 1/2 hour drive there and back is murder due to heavy traffic and rude drivers (not to mention gas "ain't" cheap!). I'm still recovering from the drive to and back last Saturday. 🙄 13.5 hour days are just too much for an old broad like me (being handicapped doesn't help any).

For the life of me, I can't understand why Microcenter keeps building new stores in smaller population centers when the Phoenix metro is a wide open, technological rich market.
