What do I do now? Faulty open box tested GPU.

Ran out to my closest microcenter last Friday. (an hour away)
Cause I saw a couple of 5080 in stock.
(Of course I get there and staff tells me the system is faulty and they've been sold out since this morning. Too bad there's never any number I can call ahead before wasting 2 hours of gas.)

Regardless I take a look around and find a 4080 super in their used/open box.
(As well as some 3080) A different staff member helped me out and told me the 4080super was tested and working and if I had any other worries that they had store warranty, same day GPU replacement, yada yada.

It's not the first time I've bought non-new GPU from Microcenter.

But it is the first time I've brought it home and had it be noticeably faulty.
Per the usual, I had to bring my whole system to the store so they could test things out.
They finally confirmed tonight that the problem is the GPU.
But they've no GPU to replace it with. Either 4000 or 5000. And have been very hesitant to tell me what other options I have.
Loving the 2-year store warranty I paid for less than a week ago.

What options do I have now?

  • Forgot to say, I mentioned the 3080 they had because the staff member helping me specifically stated that the 3080 were tested and faulty for gaming, but could be used for other non-intensive purposes.
But that the 4080super was tested and fine. (Narrator: It wasn't fine.)
