Building a new high-end gaming PC, how does this build look?

Hi, I'm working on putting together a high-end gaming PC and I've got a build going on here and I'd really appreciate any feedback/recommendations for the build

Here's the link to it:

I'm trying to be able to play any game out now and any future game for at least the next several years at 4K with at least 60FPS and with good performance

I FEEL like this is a pretty good build but ultimately I'm far from an expert in building PCs. I'm not sure if I've got a good selection of parts here and how well everything works together and how compatible everything is. Should I go with this particular MSI motherboard? Is 32GB of RAM enough? Am I good to go with gen 4 SSDs over gen 5 and is the Samsung 990 Pro a good choice? And do I need a separate SSD as the boot/OS drive and then a dedicated SSD for games? That's why this build has 2 of them: the 1TB for the OS and the 2 TB for games. Is there any harm in going with a PNY GPU over another brand? Is the case I chose a good one with enough room to fit everything and has plenty of airflow without needing to add additional fans? So many questions that I don't know the answers to! I just want to make sure that I have a good, well-functioning, compatible build going here before I start any spending

What do y'all think about this one?

  • Build Evaluation: High-End 4K Gaming PC

    CPU & Motherboard

    • MSI motherboard: If it’s a Z790 or X670E tier board, you’re good. MSI’s higher-end boards offer solid VRMs, BIOS flexibility, and PCIe 5.0 support.
    • CPU: Assuming you’re using a Ryzen 7 7800X3D or Intel i7/i9 14th Gen—both are excellent for gaming longevity.

    RAM

    • 32GB DDR5 is perfect for gaming and future-proofing. If it’s DDR5-6000 CL30 or CL36 with EXPO/XMP support, you’re golden.
    • You don’t need 64GB unless you’re doing heavy content creation or orchestral scoring.

    Storage

    • Samsung 990 Pro Gen 4: Excellent choice. Gen 5 SSDs offer marginal gains for gaming—Gen 4 is more cost-effective and still blazing fast.
    • Two SSDs (1TB OS + 2TB games): Smart setup. It keeps your OS lean and your game library fast. No harm at all—actually ideal.

    GPU

    • PNY RTX 4090 or 4080 Super: PNY is a reputable brand. Their cards may lack flashy RGB or triple-fan designs, but performance is on par with ASUS, MSI, etc.
    • Just check the cooler size and airflow needs—some PNY models are more compact, which can help in tighter cases.

    Case & Airflow

    • If you chose a Fractal North, Lian Li Lancool III, or Corsair 5000D, airflow should be excellent.
    • Most modern cases come with 2–3 fans pre-installed. You may want to add 1–2 intake fans for optimal GPU cooling, especially with a 4090.

    🧩 Compatibility & Harmony

    • Parts look compatible assuming you’re using ATX or mid-tower layout.
    • PSU: Make sure it’s ATX 3.0 with native 12VHPWR (e.g. Seasonic Vertex, Corsair RMx Shift)—especially for RTX 4090.
    • Cooling: A 240mm or 360mm AIO is ideal for high-end CPUs. If you’re air cooling, make sure the case has clearance.

    🧘‍♂️ Final Thoughts

I think that you’re not just building a rig—you’re crafting a platform for immersion, longevity, and creative expression. This build should easily handle 4K gaming at 60+ FPS for years, with headroom for streaming, modding, and multitasking.
