CPU upgrade for Powerspec G502

I recommended the Powerspec G502 for a family member years ago which means that I am on the hook for life time tech support. It's been quite a few years now and with the Windows 11 upgrade date looming I got roped into seeing why they couldn't upgrade the PC to Windows 11. I want to help them and I don't have a lot time left now.

It is an AMD Powerspec G502 and the CPU which is a Ryzen 5 1600, is the only part that's not compatible with Windows 11. I am probably going to buy a CPU that is similar but is officially compatible. The motherboard is an Asrock B450 Pro4. I'm looking at a new Ryzen 5 5500? Something with similar power needs etc. They aren't chasing frame rates and the only need is Windows 11 compatibility.

I would appreciate any suggestions about a good CPU however the real reason I'm here is to ask about BIOS updates. The only Powerspec drivers I've been able to find are on Powerspec's site but there are only 4 files and they explicitly say "Windows 10." https://www.mctsol.com/powerspec/newpsdrivers.php

I know that even if I get the Ryzen 5 5500 which is similar, I'll possibly need to update the motherboard BIOS before it will work. Can I just flash official Asrock BIOS for the board? I know some of the older Powerspec computers had custom firmware and flashing the manufacturer firmware was risky. I'm sure this G502 has whatever BIOS it had when bought which might be around 2019 or 2020.

After I find the answer as to if I can flash Asrock BIOS and pick out a CPU, I'm going to order the CPU and get the computer dropped off to me. I really don't have a lot of time considering Windows 10 support ends shortly into October. I have virtually no experience dealing with AMD boards or CPUs. I'm just looking at the supported CPUs listed by Microsoft for Windows 11 and then looking at supported CPUs on the Asrock motherboard page. Any and all help is welcome. Thank you in advance.
