Powerspec G911 - Bought openbox, need help
in PowerSpec
Hello everyone, new to this form and new to PC world. I had a gaming laptop earlier, this is my first gaming desktop.
Today I purchased an open box G911. I made sure it powers up at the store. I brought it home (after a 3 hour drive), and it looks good but I am not sure what is the basic setup needed to take full control. I tried looking up online and there is no consensus.
- What are some must have software to take control of this PC? - Should I install any specific motherboard or GPU software?
- Also are there any must do tasks as soon as power up the PC to updating any drivers or BIOS?
- To give more context I want to control RGB lighting on the case and monitor fan speeds and temps to see if fans are doing anything funny.
- Before the next question I have to say that my PC sits beside my keyboard as of now because I am testing everything. So it is sitting pretty close to my ears. I am not sure if this is normal/bad/not a big deal but I hear some noise from my fans, pretty much all the fans. I don't see any of the blades touching cables or anything at all but they all have some faint noise which I didn't expect, it is not simply whirring sound but a bit more. If I don't see any mechanical issue (blades touching anything or no significant vibration, should I simply keep the PC a bit away and ignore it?) - This sound vanishes or rather drowns in the bigger sound when the fan speed increases.
- #3 is the reason why I wanted to monitor fan speeds but I don't know what is reliable way of seeing/controlling these fans. I tried downloading MSI Center but it shows only two fan speeds and list more fans that I can see in my case.
Thanks!

- MSI Center.
- No, should be recent on this platform. Update your GPU drive, that's really it. We push drivers automaticlaly through Windows Update, so you're going to get board and network drivers.
- MSI Center.
- There should be some noise, but you can adjust fan curves in MSI Center.
- Fans are typically daisy chained from a breakout cable. You should see CPU, PUMP and then the system fans. You can check hardware monitor in the BIOS and check it against MSI Center. Press 'Delete' as the PC starts up.
