Price matching not honored?

I called my local Micro Center earlier this morning to confirm they'd price match on a ASRock TC-1650T PSU I planned to purchase.

NewEgg is selling it for $429, MicroCenter is selling it for $549

I went to the store this afternoon to pick up the PSU, only to be told by the staff member that "they had it in the back, but the supervisor has notified them that they will not do price matching for this model of PSU". None of the exclusions in the Price Match FAQ (Do you price match? - Micro Center) seemed to apply, so I'm a little confused as to what the exact policy is for price matching.

Is this ultimately a 'manager's whim' thing? Could you explain what the actual policy is, so I don't waste my time going to your retail location to have the old 'switcheroo' pulled on me?

I ended up ordering the PSU from Amazon while I was walking out of the store with next day delivery, and it was still cheaper than Micro Center's price, so good job on losing a sale.
