Arduino Uno Plus connection issues

I recently purchased the Inland Ardino Uno Plus board. However I have problems uploading programs from my laptop to the Arduino via the USB port on the board. My laptop has two USB-A ports and 1 USB-C. I also have a USB-C hub with one USB-C and 3 USB-A ports. I need to use the single USB-C connection on the hub, because I need to use an external drive. Though, I can disconnect that if absolutely necessary.

On the failed attempts, I get an error message when trying to upload like this;
Error: programmer is not responding
Warning: attempt 1 of 10: not in sync: resp=0x00

Here are the various options I've tried.

I also tried out an Arduino brand Uno Wifi, It has a USB Device connection, and I only had a USB-A to USB-Device cable.

Then below is with the Uno Wifi attached.

Any ideas about how to proceed?
