Need some advice for my 1st build
Hello everyone, I am looking to build my first PC. I have a few questions about the budget. How much do you think I would need to spend to be VR ready? My max is 1,000 but the 750-850 range would be preferable. I would also like to do some video editing on the system. I'm kind of lost on what parts to pick so some recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum, Aydenb345. I would say $750-$850 is a respectable budget for VR and entry level video editing. Here is what I've come up with so far: https://www.microcenter.com/site/content/custom-pc-builder.aspx?load=08ddb4a4-b3e9-4466-b9c4-5b16a8944e9a (Operating System not included). This will put you right at the upper limit of your preferred $750-$850 range, as it will be $845 after the $20 motherboard/CPU bundle discount and that is priced before taxes. If you wanted to save some money, you can cut the memory down from 32GB to 16GB which will save you another $60 or so. I selected the RTX 2060 KO which is a brand new version of the RTX 2060 series from EVGA/Nvidia. What makes this card unique is that it's based on the RTX 2080 and RTX 2070 Super series, and has a lot of the improved features of these cards, making it stronger for workstation and editing workflows compared to the other RTX 2060's and RTX 2060 Super series. More details on that can be found in this video from GamersNexus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUFRBnJdx3Y.
The RTX 2060 still performs great in VR and it's price is very competitive. The AMD Ryzen 5 1600 is a 6 core, 12 thread processor so you'll have plenty of CPU cores to get by with your gaming and workflow. The beauty of the Ryzen platform is that it allows future processor upgrades to work in your existing motherboard. For example: The B450 platform supports the latest Ryzen 9 3950X, which is a 16 core, 32 thread processor. It only requires a BIOS update to use the newer processors. So in the future, you can update your BIOS, then buy a more powerful CPU when you determine that you need it. If you wanted to spend closer to your $1000 limit, I would recommend switching the Ryzen 5 1600 to a Ryzen 5 3600. This processor has the same amount of cores (6 cores, 12 threads) but has a higher clock speed and performs about 20% faster in more demanding games. That would be something to keep in mind in the future.
