My PC will not power on until PSU is unplugged then plugged back in.
I bought my parts from Microcenter and built my first PC in October of 2019.
Issues:
Has anyone had this issue before? Any suggested fixes?
I feel that it is most likely a faulty PSU, a short somewhere, or the PC is not completing the shutdown sequence properly.
Should I change out the PSU and cross my fingers?
If it helps here is my build:
Issues:
- My PC will not power on until PSU is unplugged then plugged back in. - Then everything works perfect.
- The case fan lights will flash on for a second when the power button is pressed.
- When trying to reset, the PC will turn off and not power back on.
- Also i have a keyboard with RGB and the lights turn off when the PC is off. The keyboard lights now stay on when shutdown.

Hello, I do recommend using this guide to get the system to post- https://www.microcenter.com/tech_center/article/2859/how-to-discharge-capacitors-on-a-desktop-computer Now is this plugged directly into the wall outlet or is plugged into a surge protector?
-
Thank you i will try that. It is plugged into a surge protector.
-
Okay, if this continues to be an issue I do recommend checking other ports on the surge protector or changing it out to rule out any issues with the power coming to the computer, you can also test with other outlets in the house.
-
I have tried both different outlets and surge protector and all have the same result.
-
Okay, so with those being tested and ruled out as not an issue, it is possible that the power supply is faulty. We do offer diagnostic in our service department in the store for $39.99 and we would be able to stress-test the system to see what the issue is and would be needed to fix it. This is normally a 1-2 day process.

Thank you for your help
