Micro Center Community Code of Conduct
User Code of Conduct
The Micro Center community is important to all of us at Micro Center and we want to make it a place where everyone feels welcome: customers, makers, content creators, employees, and all visitors to our Site. To help us grow technically, personally, and as a community, it is important to treat each other with respect and follow some basic guidelines. This User Code of Conduct describes the core guidelines for participation in the Micro Center community and applies to all interactions that affect the community such as posting a PC build on a forum or otherwise uploading content to our Site, commenting on our web pages or on content uploaded by another community member, and treating other community members or our staff.
Treat others with kindness and respect. You may not always agree with us or other community members, but that is no excuse for unkind or disrespectful behavior. Respect differences in opinion as these differences in opinion help to grow our community.
Don’t engage in personal attacks. While differences in opinion are welcomed and encouraged in our community, you should never insult another community member or engage in personal attacks on the character of another community member. Understand the difference between commenting on the technical aspects or aesthetics of another community member’s content, which is encouraged, and insulting the personal character of another community member, which is prohibited.
Respect the privacy of other community members. At no time should you post personal information about other community members.
Only represent yourself within the community. Do not impersonate or falsely represent other community members or Micro Center staff within the community.
Don’t use “not safe for work,” sexually inappropriate, or discriminatory content or excessive profanity. Any conduct or content that might be considered pornographic, sexually explicit, sexist, racist, ageist, or otherwise discriminatory will not be tolerated.
Be patient with other members of the community and communicate carefully. Not everyone in our community has the same experience, knowledge base, or even language. Be patient and understanding of where other members are at from a technical competency standpoint and provide effective communication to help avoid misunderstandings.
Don’t troll, spam, advocate piracy, recommend key resellers, use “clickbait” titles, use crowdfunding links, or engage in vote collusion. Do not engage in conduct which is counterproductive to the efficient operation of our community such as (i) trolling a beginner build member by suggesting an unrealistic and overly expensive parts list when that member is seeking a low cost build suggestion; (ii) spamming other community members by establishing multiple threads on the same topic, repeating posts on threads or builds, or posting nonsensical or single word or letter replies; (iii) recommending or implying piracy or posting links to pirated material; (iv) recommending any sites that we deem objectionable; (v) using “clickbait” titles when posting forum topics; (vi) using crowdfunding links; or (vii) creating multiple accounts to apply votes to yourself and other community members.
No link shorteners. When posting content within the community, you should remove all link shorteners from posts, builds, guides, and any other content.
Take Care of the Culture of our Community. We are dedicated to maintaining a positive Micro Center community where people can engage, learn, and share their work, and the vast majority of our community members are kind and respectful. And all of us, including Micro Center, are responsible for taking care of the culture of our community. On rare occasions, we encounter a person who uses abusive language, cannot work together with other community members, or otherwise refuses to comply with this User Code of Conduct or the User Generated Content Agreement. In those rare occasions, we may ban that person from engaging within our community. We may also choose to block that person on our Site or any other social media outlet owned or operated by Micro Center. We reserve the right at all times to remove from this Site or any of our other social media outlets any content that is unlawful, profane, pornographic, indecent, obscene, vulgar, libelous, defamatory, threatening, abusive, not safe for work, sexually inappropriate, discriminatory, or otherwise objectionable in the sole discretion of Micro Center. These instances are rare, but we feel they are necessary to protect our staff and the other respectful members of community, and to ensure the enjoyable use of this Site and Micro Center’s other social media outlets.
If you have any questions about this policy or what we expect of community members, or any feedback on how we might make it better, please fill out the customer support contact form.
