Graphics Cards

I am searching for a refurb IMac..i would like to buy one with a graphics card that would work with cinema grade editing program—it requires metal compatibility.  Can someone make suggestions for what graphics card I should buy, please? Thanks :)

Hello @Dawn! Welcome to the Community.

Do you have a price range in mind for the iMac? We carry a few different models.

    Hello,
$750-$1,200.  The metal compatible graphics card is necessary for editing with Cinema Grade.
    Thank you

Please let us know which of our stores your near so we can check inventory. We'll try to find a model with the best performance possible in the price range for you.

You'll certainly find plenty of options. Almost any iMac built from 2012 onward, with at least an Intel HD 4000 GPU would support metal. A lot of the things you've seen is probably from Mac Pro users with systems before 2012, trying to upgrade to a metal compatible GPU so that they can upgrade to 10.14 or later.

Also let us know what programs you're going to be using.

Thank you very much for the info!  We are in the Twin Cities (Minnesota)
The editing programs we use are after effects, premiere pro, cinema grade, Illustrator and Davinci

Stock seems to be quite limited on iMacs currently. It does not appear they have any refurbished ones, and the closest one to your price point would be at $1299.99 - https://www.microcenter.com/product/605408/apple-imac-mrt32ll-a-(early-2019)-215-all-in-one-desktop-computer
