Loaner CPU from tech support or buy a cheap CPU to throw away.

I've got a brand new but older model mini-itx motherboard that will support a Ryzen 3000 series with a firmware upgrade however I need an already-compatible CPU to temporarily stick use in order to do it, which I don't have.  I'm tempted to just buy an Athlon 3000g since it should be compatible and is only $45, but that seems like such a waste.  Does microcenter by chance offer anything like this as a service?

I know AMD has a free loner program but I don't particularly want to wait two weeks to do this.  I'd like my new build running asap

Hello @Joey! Welcome to the Community.

We actually offer BIOS updates at our in-store service desks. There is a $29.99 labor charge, if you're willing to go that route. Just keep in mind depending on your local store there may be limitations or delays on the service we can perform right now.
