G162 upgrade

Hello All,
  Is there room in the g162 powerspec desktop gaming pc to install a second larger harddrive and have it run games off of it while the operating system is on the primary drive? It only came with 250GB ssd. I would like to add an additional 1TB ssd into it if possible.

Welcome to the forum, @Graham. There is definitely room to install a 3.5 inch HDD in your G162. You'll need to remove the shroud that covers the power supply in order to access the drive bay. If you need pictures of this process, let me know. I should have the chassis nearby to demonstrate. Keep in mind that the system comes with spare SATA power cables but not SATA data cables. You'll have to source one of those in order to connect the drive.

Appreciate it man, that would be extremely helpful if you could provide pictures. When you mean "source" the data cables you do just mean buy them right?

Yes, right. You would need a cable such as https://www.microcenter.com/product/247547/evercool-7-pin-sata-female-connector-to-7-pin-sata-female-connector-sata-data-cable-18-in---red to connect your new drive to your motherboard.

They would be different kinds of drives. A 3.5" HDD is cheaper but a slower drive than an SSD typically used for extra storage. I have the same issue in needing more storage for my G162.  Is there a PCI slot available for another NVME drive like the one installed?  I still plan on installing games on the extra drive and want to make sure I buy a capable hard drive.  I'm guessing the motherboard is what determines what kind of extra storage I can use.  Thanks
