Power Not Working

HP EliteBook 840.  I plug it in and the power light blinks and the cap lock light blinks.  Nothing else happens.  When I unplug it all power indications go away.  I took out the battery for a period of time and pressed the power button, but that did not seem to help.  What should I do?

When you press the power button while it's plugged in, does anything happen? Do the power indicator turn off? 

One thing I'd try if you can, is plug in an external monitor to the laptop and see if you can get any display when there's power. If you can get display output, that means it's probably just a screen issue. If you can't, there's likely something else wrong with it preventing it from booting properly, in which case I"d bring the laptop to the service desk at your local Micro Center for evaluation.

then hold down the power button 30 sec, plug back in the power cord and see if it boots up,
