Older Power Supply For 10th Gen Z490 Boards

I have a Cooler Master Silent Pro Hybrid 80Plus Gold 1050 that I removed from a build a few years ago. It works perfectly.
Can I use it for the new 10th Gen build Z490 MSI or Asus Z490 LGA1200 Socket Boards?

As far as I'm aware as long as the power supply has the 24pin connection and the adapters for the 8 or 8+4 or 8+8 that are for the cpu power then it should work.

This is correct. The reason most people are concerned when they use "older" power supplies are for two reasons. The first being the "Haswell Ready" designation and what it meant for modern power supplies. With Intel's Haswell series CPU's (4th gen), they utilized the C7 sleep state and most older PSU's simply couldn't figure out how to handle the low power request when the other power rails were still loaded with power. This would cause the PSU to shut itself off using integrated protection systems, and you'd have to manually switch the PSU off/on again. 

The second reason plays a little into the first, and that is power rail design. Older PSU's were designed with larger 3.3V and 5V rails because back then, 3.3V and 5V devices were far more common. This is no longer the case, with modern PSU's opting for larger 12V rails, some of which can use the complete total capacity of the PSU. 

@WEB your older PSU should work just fine. If you ever experience an issue with the system not powering on after a deep sleep, simply disable C7 sleep state in your BIOS and it will work just fine.

Ya hate to throw away a good PSU.
With the shortages and long delivery time's for Power Supply's right now this is a question that a lot of folks may have.

Absolutely, happy to help. I myself still have some older Seasonic PSU's that still have the gigantic 5V rails but they still work fine. Granted I don't really use them on high-end systems anymore, I'd hate to shell out the money that is being charged on low-end PSU's given the current industry wide shortage for a budget system.
