Shopping for college

My daughter is heading off to college next month and,  like my other kids, has Micro Center gift cards to use for it.  Usually I ask in the store for guidance on a machine that will work best for the needs of her major and buy based off recommendations, but this year is different and wait lists are real.  I am going to try and buy online instead.  That all being said, I am looking for recommendations on a laptop for an early childhood education major.  She is not a gamer, but does create lots of visuals.  I appreciate your guidance, your insight, and your time.

I've moved this thread to our Sales category since it's a little better for that section. Do you have a budget in mind for the laptop? Also, when you say she creates a lot of visuals, do you know what programs she uses to do that?

Thank you for your help. 
Budget is under a thousand. 
Visuals- probably PowerPoint and I think Adobe?   Illustrator or photoshop.   Not entirely certain, though.
